Slightly Stoopid, Atmosphere

  1. Slightly Stoopid, Atmosphere
    Event on 2013-07-11 17:00:00

    Supporting Acts: Tribal Seeds

    Slightly Stoopid

With more than a decade of making music together, the members of Slightly Stoopid have perfected one of the rarest and most valuable skills a band can develop: the art of the stealth groove, that knack for quietly, almost innocently, sliding into a composition, and utterly lassoing anyone within earshot by mid-song. That's where the band has come to reside, musically: deep in the pocket, that ever-elusive, funky trench where a band can entrance an audience, hypnotize it and hold on to it until the set or CD is finished. Built on a bedrock of nasty, oceanic slabs of dubby bass, meditative vocal harmonies, rock-steady guitar licks and tightly syncopated percussive rhythms, Slightly Stoopid illustrate a case study in underground success, steeped in years of hard touring, an improvisational business model, and a creative process that continues to unwind and push the envelope of a new jam-based genre the band helped to create. Slightly Stoopid has built a large n' loyal fan base, and has soared to one of the most successful independent artists of this decade. The buzz surrounding the group continues to increase with each successive release; their album catalog sales have topped the 700,000 mark and the group continues to fill the most prestigious concert venues around the world, and continues to create a legion of "stoopidheads" in the process!

In the three years since Atmosphere's dropped a full length record on the world, they've been far from stagnant, staying at the top of their game in every respect. For the better part of two years, Atmosphere toured the globe in support of their critically acclaimed – and #5 Billboard Top 200 charting – album, When LIfe Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold. And in their "spare" time, the group returned home to Minneapolis in 2009 to record their 2010 double EP, To All My Friends, Blood Makes The Blade Holy, an homage to their friends. In 2011, Atmosphere is taking that feeling one step farther with this long awaited LP, The Family Sign, a tribute to their true extended family: their fans, their loved ones, and each other. The Family Sign was written early in 2010, and as they sat down to record the record, the Family grew a few times over. In the studio, Atmosphere was joined by long time touring musicians Nate "The Guitar Man" Collis (guitar) and Erick Anderson (keys). At home, 2010 also saw the addition of two real-life children to the Atmosphere family, further inspiring the writing process and the concept, and title, of the album. The Family Sign comes from a place well refined and firmly planted, from a universal perspective. It's about being okay with losing friends and strengthening your bonds with others, celebrating the person who's been the most positive in your life, your kids, your homies, leaving the people you need to behind, and bringing the ones you love with you. It's about your family, your time and the time you have with them. It's about living and dying. It's the truth about family, that it comes from loyalty as much as biology. It's about breaking down your perceptions of family and really appreciating the people who've made you who you are and continue doing so. The Family Sign is Atmosphere's most personal and intimate album yet; it involves and engages the listener like never before. Slug's signature voice weaves in and out of Ant's ASR-born production, Nate Collis' bluesy guitar riffs and the sound of Erick Anderson's unmistakable keys giving The Family Sign a fresh, unique edge without sacrificing Atmosphere's signature sound. Join the Family April 12th, 2011.

Since the late 1960s Todd Rundgren has created an unparalleled body of work that has gained him a fiercely loyal cult following. Todd may not have always been the darling of music critics, but fans and peers in the music industry acknowledge Todd as a musical genius for his songwriting, performing and production prowess. Todd is also a trailblazer in the music industry, being one of the first performers to produce conceptual music videos and one of the first artists whose music was commercially available via the Internet. Todd continues to record new material and performs many concerts each year, including recent performances of classic albums in their entirety and tours supporting his newer material. One thing Todd Rundgren is not is predictable.

Todd Rundgren was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1948 to Harry and Ruth Rundgren. Todd grew up in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and after a few formal lessons taught himself how to play guitar. Todd formed his first band, Money, when he was sixteen years old. After high school, Todd joined a local blues band named Woody's Truck Stop. Todd burst onto the national music scene as the guitarist for a group called Nazz, which formed in 1967.

Nazz's eponymous debut yielded two singles, "Open My Eyes," still a Todd concert staple, and its flipside, a mellow version of what would become one of Todd's signature hits, "Hello It's Me." Todd's stint in Nazz was short-lived, with Todd leaving after the recording Nazz's second album ran into a myriad of problems, including visa issues when the band began recording in England. The project began as a double album entitled Fungo Bat and instead the band released a shortened version entitled Nazz Nazz, eliminating many of the experimental songs on which Todd sang lead vocals. Subsequently Todd left Nazz to embark on a solo career. A third Nazz album entitled Nazz III was released after Todd left the band, the album featured songs from the Fungo Bat sessions with Todd's vocals overdubbed by Nazz lead singer Robert "Stewkey" Antoni.

Todd's first solo album, Runt, came out in 1970 and Todd scored his first commercial hit with "We Gotta Get You a Woman." The album also featured the song "Broke Down and Busted" a fan favorite that Todd played on his recent blues tour, paired with a Utopia song entitled "Mystified" from P.O.V. Todd's second album was titled Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren, which was the first album released on the now defunct Bearsville Records, a label that Todd became synonymous with for much of his career.

In addition to getting his solo career off the ground, Todd began to establish himself as a record producer in the early 1970s, first as an engineer on The Band's Stage Fright and later replacing George Harrison as producer on Badfinger's Straight Up, which yielded the hit "Baby Blue." This set the stage for Todd's most ambitious project.

Something/Anything? remains Todd Rundgren's bestselling album. The two album set released in 1972 features two of Todd's biggest hits, a remake of Nazz's "Hello it's Me" and the song "I Saw the Light." The album was the first to feature Todd playing all the instruments and doing all of his own vocals, which occurred on sides one through three. Side four was recorded live in the studio and featured a variety of session musicians including Rick Derringer, Randy Brecker and Rick Vito.

The follow up to Something/Anything? was A Wizard a True Star, an album revered by Todd's loyal fan base. Wizard departed from the formula that made Something/Anything? a commercial success but it introduced the concert staple "Just One Victory." In 2009, Todd embarked on a short tour and performed the album in its entirety largely through the efforts of fans and the organization of an internet based radio show dubbed appropriately, Rundgren Radio. The follow up to Wizard was simply called Todd, which included a poster of Todd formed out of the names of fans who sent in a postcard enclosed in Wizard. Todd also featured "Sons of 1984" which was recorded in San Francisco and New York City with the chorus of each city appearing in separate stereo channels. Todd will be performed live by Todd in its entirety in 2010.

Shortly after the release of Todd, Todd formed the band Utopia. The progressive rock group released the critically acclaimed Todd Rundgren's Utopia, which contained only four songs, none of which was under ten minutes. This was followed by another solo release, Initiation, which featured "Real Man" a song that spent many years as part of Todd's live set. The next release was Utopia's Another Life, followed by Todd's solo offering Faithful, which began the years of Rundgren solo works interspersed with Utopia releases. Faithful's side two featured longtime staples of Todd's solo shows "Love of the Common Man" and "Clich."

In 1977, the classic Utopia lineup of Todd, Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell and Willie Wilcox was solidified with the release of Ra, a progressive rock album that featured "Singring and the Glass Guitar." This was followed by Oops! Wrong Planet which features the live staple "Love in Action" as well as the Rundgren penned song later made famous by England Dan and John Ford Coley, "Love is the Answer."

Todd's greatest commercial success came in 1977 not as a solo performer or with Utopia; it came unexpectedly as producer of Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell, one of the largest selling albums of all time. Shortly after Bat, Todd released another successful solo album entitled Hermit of Mink Hollow, which included the hit "Can We Still Be Friends."

Todd continued to record solo and Utopia records through the mid 1980s. In 1980 Utopia released two albums, Adventures in Utopia which included Utopia's biggest hit "Set Me Free", and the Beatles parody album Deface the Music. In 1981, Todd released Healing, his first solo album in three years. The album included a 45-rpm insert of the song "Time Heals" b/w "Tiny Demons." The conceptual video for "Time Heals" was the second music video played on MTV, after the Buggles song, "Video Killed the Radio Star." Todd will be performing Healing in its entirety in the fall of 2010 along with Todd.

Also in 1981, Utopia released their last album on Bearsville, Swing to the Right, an album featuring pointed political commentary at the beginning of the Reagan era. The album also contains the fan favorite, "One World." Utopia's next album was simply called Utopia, and featured the band on the cover in suits. The unique package included a "third" side. Utopia began recording the album without bass player Kasim Sulton, who had left the band to pursue a solo career. Sulton returned and his vocals appear prominently on the album. Utopia also spawned a moderate MTV hit with the song "Feet Don't Fail Me Now."

In 1983 Todd released The Ever Popular Tortured Artist Effect, which contained the stadium anthem "Bang the Drum All Day." The Ever Popular Tortured Artist also was the last album Todd released on Bearsville records, ending an often-adversarial relationship with the label. A conceptual video by the same name was released later.

Utopia released Oblivion the next year, which included the song "Crybaby." Utopia's final album of all original material P.O.V was released in 1985 and the band embarked on a nationwide tour as part of a double bill featuring The Tubes. Todd had produced The Tubes last major label release, Love Bomb, at the same time Utopia recorded P.O.V. The Tubes lineup included Todd's longtime drummer and collaborator Prairie Prince and backup singer Michele Gray who would later marry Todd in 1998.

In 1985, Todd released A Cappella, an innovative album in which Todd used only his voice through an E-mu Emulater to create various sounds. Bearsville records originally shelved the release deeming it too experimental. After the demise of Bearsville the album was released as part of a three album deal with Warner Brothers. The tour for A Cappella featured an eleven-voice orchestra backing Todd.

Utopia reformed briefly in 1986 to record two new songs for a compilation entitled Trivia, which featured songs from the post-Bearsville Utopia releases. Todd continued to produce records and tour occasionally but it was not until 1989 that Todd released Nearly Human. The subsequent tour featured an eleven-piece ensemble that included future Sting guitarist Lyle Workman, future Smash Mouth drummer Michael Urbano and future Grateful Dead keyboardist Vince Welnick. The tour spawned a concert video entitled Todd Rundgren Live in Japan.

In 1991, Todd released his final album on a major label, 2nd Wind. Todd recorded the album in front of a live audience in San Francisco. The subsequent tour was the first to feature Todd's longtime guitarist Jesse Gress.

Two years later Todd took a new musical direction, renaming himself as TR-i-, which stood for Todd Rundgren interactive- and released No World Order. The album was released in three different versions, one that was truly interactive and allowed the user to manipulate the songs, a conventional release with no gap between songs and a "lite" version of just the songs entitled No World Order Lite. Todd included "Worldwide Epiphany" in his live set many years afterward.

Todd's next album appeared in 1995, entitled The Individualist. It continued in the style of No World Order and included the fan favorite "Temporary Sanity" and a political jab at Dan Quayle entitled "Family Values." The Individualist marked the end of Todd's most prolific years as a recording artist. The next two releases included With a Twist in 1997 and One Long Year in 2000. With a Twist was an album of Todd's songs done Bossa nova style and One Long Year was the product of Todd's PatroNet service an internet based music delivery system developed by Todd in the mid 1990s. In the 1990s, Todd also toured with Ringo's All Star Band in 1992 and 1999 respectively.

After years of touring and producing, Todd released Liars in 2004. It was the first album of all new material in nearly ten years, marking the longest time between original recordings. The album received excellent reviews and the subsequent tour was captured for the DVD entitled Liars Live.

In 2006, Todd shocked many of his fans by announcing he would be touring with The Cars in place of vocalists Benjamin Orr and Ric Ocasek. The project also included longtime Rundgren collaborators Kasim Sulton and Prairie Prince. The group coined itself as The New Cars and released one album, It's Alive, made up of mostly Cars remakes and three originals, "Not Tonight," "Warm" and "More." The New Cars embarked on a tour with Blondie but the tour was cut short when guitarist Elliot Easton was injured in an accident involving the tour bus. The band resumed the tour later and performed their last show in September of 2007.

In 2008, Todd celebrated his 60th birthday by inviting fans to his home in Hawaii for an event that is affectionately known as Toddstock. At the gathering Rundgren performed his newest release Arena. Todd toured the country performing Arena in its original running order both before and after the album's release.

In September of 2009, for the first time ever Todd performed A Wizard a True Star live in its entirety in Akron, OH. Rundgren Radio organized the show as part of their 2nd Annual Birthday Bash. Rundgren Radio is an internet based radio show devoted to all things Todd. Todd also surprised fans by opening the show with a set of Utopia songs performed by Todd with Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell and Prairie Prince. The show was the first of many Internet simulcasts.

In 2010 Todd showed no signs of slowing down, he toured in support of an album of Robert Johnson covers humorously entitled Todd Rundgren's Johnson. The tour included plenty of Rundgren rarities like Nazz's "Kiddie Boy" and "Bleeding" from Runt. Todd also performed Healing and Todd live beginning at the Rundgren Radio Birthday Bash III Weekend in Akron, OH.

In 2011, Todd opened the year's touring up with two special Todd Rundgren's Utopia concerts at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. The first night was a benefit concert for Moogy Klingman who was battling with cancer at the time. Todd later performed with Daryl Hall for a one-off Live From Daryl's concert held in Atlantic City, NJ. He also toured "Best Of Todd Rundgren" shows in the USA, Japan, and in the UK. Todd finished the touring season for the year with a 12 show tour featuring Todd Rundgren's Utopia.

The members of Adelaide, Australias Atlas Genius do things a little differently. They set about building a studio where they could write and record music for their newly formed band 3 years before they even played their first live show as Atlas Genius. For two years, they devoted their days to constructing their dream studio and spent their nights performing songs by The Police, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones at local pubs to pay the bills. We really got down and dirty with dry walling and literally laying the floorboards, and at the same time we were taking a couple of days a week to focus on writing songs, recalls Keith Jeffery, Atlas Geniuss vocalist/guitarist. We had a lot of song ideas and it was important to us to have our own studio where we could experiment and hone in on our sound, adds brother and drummer, Michael Jeffery. The studio was designed and outfitted by the brothers with the help of their father (who comes from a music and engineering background). Once the studio was complete, the first song that Atlas Genius finished was a song called Trojans, which they wrote, recorded and produced in collaboration with their friend, keyboardist Darren Sell. After many weeks tweaking the song, Michael insisted that the song was ready to be heard outside of the studio walls. Within an hour, Trojans was on the Triple J Unearthed Website, SoundCloud, and for sale via TuneCore on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify worldwide.

We had begun to think that music was a pipedream and we had all gone back to university to pursue more realistic careers, says Keith. Wed had such a long slog of playing late nights and working all day, and it felt like we didnt really have anything to show for it. But then, in the midst of cramming for their Fall 2011 semester final exams, Neon Gold discovered Trojans on the Triple J Unearthed Website and wrote a post praising Trojans as a song sure to invade your head, all dressed up in a clever disguise of earnest vocals riding a hooky riff. Checking the bands email account for the first time in over a month, the band found that dozens of record labels, publishers, lawyers, booking agents and management companies from all over the world had contacted them.

We were trying to focus on school, but it was just impossible, recalls Keith. So we said, Theres something going on here. Lets get back to the music. The band added manager, Jonny Kaps from +1, to their extended family to navigate all of the interest as the band focused on writing and recording more songs.

Quickly named an iTunes Single of the Week in Australia and New Zealand, Trojans reached #4 on Hype Machine by the end of May. In August, SiriusXM Satellite Radios Alt-Nation discovered the song on a blog and decided to give it some spins. There was an immediate reaction from listeners, and in September, Trojans was placed into heavy rotation, where it maintained a top-five position on the listener-generated Alt-18 countdown and peaked at number one for 4 consecutive weeks in January 2012. Trojans began selling over a thousand tracks per week on U.S. iTunes and soon climbed to 45,000 sales – all with zero promotional efforts from the still-unsigned Atlas Genius.

Knowing we had this audience that was waiting on new songs, we had a much greater sense of purpose than we had before, says Keith. It was really exciting to know that there were people who wanted to hear more of our music. Although labels were clamoring for the band to come to the U.S. and play a series of showcase gigs, Atlas Genius turned down those offers in favor of staying in Adelaide to keep writing and recording new songs. In February 2012, after months of communicating with numerous labels via Skype, the band chose to travel to the US in order to make their label decision.

Wed never been to America before, says Keith. We flew in at night and saw this sea of lights, and it really became apparent to us how massive the U.S. is. It was pretty intimidating – like How do we fit into all this? In April 2012, the band returned to the states having made their decision to sign with Warner Bros. Records. We felt a connection with them, notes Keith. Everyone there feels very creative and dedicated to the music.

The bands first release from their new label home, the EP Through The Glass (produced, engineered and mixed by the band), came out in June of 2012. With Through The Glass completed, Atlas Genius then holed up in its studio and worked on writing and recording its first full-length album, while at the same time rehearsing for their first ever tour. The tour started in August 2012 and led to three more tours back to back taking them thru to the end of the year. Thus, their full-length debut was finished up between tour dates and got completed just before Christmas 2012. When It Was Now is set for a US release on February 19th, 2013, with an international release to follow soon after.

The debut captures Atlas Geniuss singular combination of sophisticated musicality and warm, wistful spirit. Infused with a classic sensibility, each of the songs would fit seamlessly if somehow slipped into a long-treasured mixtape. On the shimmering Symptoms, for instance, taut keyboard riffs mesh with urgent acoustic strumming before the band bursts into a gently frenetic, guitar-drenched chorus. Meanwhile, Back Seat blends its pulsing bass throb with a sweetly infectious beat and tender vocals that alternately soar and sigh. And on Trojans, Atlas Genius begins with a restrained guitar melody and vocal (Take it off, take it in/Take off all the thoughts of what weve been) before giving way to the handclap-accented, harmony-soaked refrain and lush yet kinetic bridge.

Its still surreal, says Keith of all thats happened over the past 18 months. I think when we were very young, we had hopes that something like this might happen one day, he continues. (Thanks largely to encouragement from their Beatles fanatic parents, who encouraged the brothers to begin playing music by age 14.) But then you grow up a bit and it seems less and less likely. So when we put Trojans out, we figured it would be a success if maybe a hundred people heard it. We dont want to force our music onto anyone. Our goal is to write songs that we love and we hope they connect with other people too.

Seed&Spark Shapes the Future of Film

Hosted First Innovators Summit at LA Film Fest with Film Independent and Cinedigm; Connects with Filmmakers and Audiences via Seed&Spark ,000 Crowd-funding Campaign

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 25, 2013

Seed&Spark, the worlds first crowd-funding and digital distribution platform made just for independent film, launched two initiatives to shape the future of independent film by strengthening the ties between filmmakers and film audiences.

During this months LA Film Fest, Seed&Spark hosted the first Innovators Summit together with Film Independent and Cinedigm. The Innovators Summit is a gathering of people from the film community to leverage the collective intelligence of innovators in film production, technology, finance and distribution. CEO Emily Best led a group of 50 participants through a series of exercises that painted various possible scenarios. The purpose was to imagine what could happen and examine the factors and forces that should demand the film industrys attention, investment and action.

Earlier this month, Seed&Spark launched a $ 30,000 crowd-funding campaign on its own platform to enhance the companys offerings and site usability. The Seed&Spark crowd-funding campaign WishList records specific needs for production, marketing, festivals, travel, crew and professional services. Supporters can opt to contribute with cash or to loan goods and services that are part of the Seed&Spark campaign WishList.

We believe that in order to compete in a world of increasing fragmentation, creators success will depend on their connection to and relationship with their audience, says Emily Best, Founder and CEO of Seed&Spark. This is also true for our success with Seed&Spark as a whole. Our platform was specifically built to engage and connect independent filmmakers and audiences. We launched the Seed&Spark crowdfunding campaign to get feedback, support, and engagement from the very people we hope our improved platform will better serve.

Indiewire just named Seed&Sparks founder and CEO Emily Best among its 2013 Indiewire Influencers list. This years list is dedicated to 40 people and companies who are asking the big questions about what the independent film industry is today (and why) and, more importantly, what it will become. It celebrates the people who are trying to get it right — and even those daring to get it wrong.

Best is touring film festivals around the world to educate filmmakers about the opportunities offered by crowd-funding and the advantage of an audience-centric approach to filmmaking from pitch to premiere. Upcoming appearances include the Galway Film Fleadh, SXSW V2V Las Vegas and the Austin Film Festival.

To help Seed&Spark change the future of filmmaking, support the companys crowd-funding campaign before June 29 by clicking here.

About Seed&Spark

Can a penalty in American football result in a turnover?

  1. In American football, a penalty can result in loss of yardage, loss of down, automatic first down, etc. But can a penalty in American football result in a turnover?
Note: I mean when the punishment specifically calls for the other (non-offending) team to gain possession, as opposed to indirectly losing possession through something like loss of down on a fourth down.

    Answer by Peyton Manning

  2. As the question states I wondered if there are any sites where you get virtual cash to place on real events?
Ive always wondered whether I would be any good at betting on football results and I want to understand how the odds and different types of bet work but I dont want to spend any money.

The best one is http://www.bettorfan.com. They are a free sports betting website that gives you money to bet with. Once you reach a certain amount you can win real money.

They make money from advertisers so they are 100% Free.

  3. I want to start up a simple website to display football results from local teams, I used to have a really easy to use program which would allow me to edit my pages with ease and upload them onto sites like geocities and such.
Ive tried geocities own web-builder but Im not finding it especially user friendly.

ENT and Allergy Associates

In order to ensure that those who live and work in lower Manhattan continue to receive the very best care possible, today ENTA announced a significant new investment in both the facilities and technology of its Wall Street office, located at 150 Broadway, Suite 1015. Specifically, ENTA plans to sign a new lease and greatly expand its existing footprint at this office.

Tarrytown, NY (PRWEB) June 10, 2013

While Manhattan may be the smallest New York City borough in terms of land mass, it is definitely the most densely populated, both in terms of number of people per square foot, as well as in terms of number of ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP (ENTA) offices per square mile.

In fact, four of ENTAs 39 clinical sites and 17 of its 140 physicians serve their patients in Manhattan. These offices, which offer superior ear, nose, throat, allergy and audiology care, are conveniently located all over the island, including on the East Side at 86th St, on the West Side on Columbus Avenue, on 5th Avenue at 28th Street, as well as on Wall Street at 150 Broadway.

The effective date for this upgrade is August /September 2013.

The new space will have full service electronic health records and will provide for eight state-of-the-art exam rooms, including six ENT exam rooms, and two allergy exam rooms. In addition, the space will include an audio booth/hearing aid dispensing room, and injection booths. More importantly, the additional office space will allow ENTA to hire an additional physician to fully serve the needs of the adult and pediatric patients who come to that office for their medical care. This new doctor, who is currently being recruited by ENTA, will join forces with the superb physicians who currently work at ENTAs Wall Street office. These physicians include Otolaryngologists Sheldon Palgon, M.D., Anna Aronzon, M.D., Allergist/Immunologist Hale Yarmohammadi, M.D., and Audiologist Karen S. Bromberg, Au.D., F-AAA, CCC-A.

In addition, fellowship-trained Otologist, George A. Poulos, D.O., who was recently recruited to ENTA, will also practice at ENTAs Wall Street office and team up with this best-in-class roster of physicians.

Robert Glazer, CEO of ENTA remarked, We are constantly looking for ways to improve the patient experience at our clinical locations. At our Wall Street office, we had the opportunity to expand, upgrade and enhance without needing to move, and this is the best of all worlds. Mr. Glazer continued, Now we can ensure that our facility is state-of-the-art, more comfortable, and still conveniently located for our valued patients, who have come to expect seeing us at that location.

150 Broadway, commonly referred to as the Westinghouse Building, is a 23-story, 250,000 square foot building, located in the heart of the financial district, just steps away from City Hall. Located at the corner of Broadway and Liberty Street, 150 Broadway boasts a diverse tenant population, consisting of commercial, legal and financial firms, as well as retail space.

Dr. Wayne Eisman, President of ENTA added, This move also allows us the room to welcome a new physician and expand the breadth of treatment we offer. And, thanks to our extensive recruitment initiative, we feel confident we will add an absolutely superb board certified physician to care for our patients.

The upgraded space is planned to feature a post-injection waiting area for allergy patients, a brand new hearing aid dispenser room, additional work space to accommodate three medical assistants, a dedicated surgical coordinator room, a larger physicians office, a new staff lounge, and a larger patient reception area with updated check-in and check-out stations.

We are absolutely delighted with and completely supportive of the Practices plans to improve and expand our office, commented Dr. Anna Aronzon, ENTA physician partner in the Wall Street office. Our commitment to being on the leading edge of healthcare is second to none and undertakings such as this one allow us to help fulfill it. I truly believe that our patients recognize that level of dedication, and thats why they choose us as their trusted health providers.

Sixteen Jesuit Priests Ordained This Month

Society of Jesus celebrates first ordinations since Election of Jesuit Pope.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 06, 2013

Nearly three months after the historic election of the first Jesuit Pope, the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), the largest order of priests and brothers in the Roman Catholic Church, will ordain 16 new priests this month in the United States.

Ordination ceremonies are being held in New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles and Chicago. At Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y., the Most Rev. Thomas Donato, Auxiliary Bishop of Newark, N.J., will preside. At Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Orleans, the Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond, Archbishop of New Orleans, will preside. At Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Los Angeles, the Most Reverend John C. Wester, Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, will preside. At Madonna della Strada Chapel at Loyola University Chicago, the Most Rev. George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio, will preside.

Before entering the Society of Jesus, the ordinands worked in nonprofit community service, higher education, state government, documentary film production and biomedical research, and several taught in high schools and colleges. A diverse group, the ordinands range in age from 32 to 53 and hail from Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.

The Most Rev. Thomas H. Smolich, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference, said, This is a joyful time for both the Society of Jesus and the Catholic Church as we welcome 16 new brothers being ordained this month. Their call to priestly ministry is as varied as their hometowns and former occupations, but they have one thing in common: a desire to dedicate themselves to the Jesuit mission of serving the Church where the need is greatest.

Those called to Catholic priesthood in the Society of Jesus undergo extensive training from the moment novices enter the Society until theyre ordained — a process that can take anywhere from eight to 12 years. Following ordination, the new priests will serve in parishes and teach in Jesuit high schools and universities, among other assignments.

The 16 Jesuit priests being ordained this year are:

Father Glen Butterworth, 42, was born in Germany and grew up around the world. Before entering the Society of Jesus, he served in the Clinton Administration and later worked in telecommunications and the arts. Following ordination, Father Butterworth will serve at St. Joseph Parish in Seattle.

Father James T. Donovan, 48, is a native of Malverne, N.Y. Before becoming a Jesuit, Father Donovan taught science at three New York high schools: St. Francis Prep in Fresh Meadows, Christ the King Regional High School in Middle Village and Garden City High School.

Father Peter M. Folan, 34, is a native of Massapequa Park on Long Island, N.Y. Prior to entering the Society of Jesus, Father Folan served in education and public policy for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and taught at Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Md.

Father Philip A. Ganir, 36, hails from Hawaii. An accomplished vocalist, Father Ganir studied at the Manhattan School of Music and taught music, English and theology at Jesuit High School in Sacramento, Calif. Following ordination, he will serve as associate pastor of St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Sacramento.

Father Patrick L. Gilger, 32, hails from Salem, Ore. After entering the Society of Jesus, Father Gilger taught English for three years at the Red Cloud Indian School, founded by the Jesuits in 1888 to serve the families on South Dakotas Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. In 2012, Father Gilger helped found The Jesuit Post, a website that explores contemporary culture and spirituality.

Father Matthew J. Kunkel, 33, is a native of Bremerton, Wash. Part of his formation experience included an assignment teaching religion at St. Andrew Nativity School in Portland, Ore., and a five-week journey along the migration corridor, the Central American route typically traveled by those fleeing poverty and seeking opportunity in the United States.

Father Michael C. Magree, 35, was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to entering the Society of Jesus, Father Magree earned a bachelors degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, and a masters degree from The Ohio State University. This summer, he will travel to Brazil for MAGIS 2013, the Jesuit pastoral program that precedes World Youth Day.

Father Raul A. Navarro, 53, was born in Mexico City but grew up in New Orleans. Father Navarro earned a bachelors degree, a masters degree and an MBA from Loyola University New Orleans and served in administrative positions with the university. Following ordination, he will serve at Immaculate Conception Church in New Orleans.

Father William A. Noe, 43, is a native of Racine, Wis. Father Noe served as a biomedical researcher and as a patent examiner prior to entering the Society of Jesus. Fluent in Spanish and with a background in electrical engineering, Fr. Noe taught electronics at a technical college in Bolivia during his time in formation.

Father E. Joseph OKeefe, 48, hails from Boston. Prior to entering the Society of Jesus, Father OKeefe served for more than twenty years in Massachusetts state government. Following ordination, he will serve in an administrative capacity at Loyola High School of Los Angeles.

Father Michael J. Rogers, 32, is a native of Hartford, Conn. Part of his formation experience included teaching at Fairfield College Preparatory School in Connecticut and at Boston College High School. This summer, Father Rogers is serving as the national coordinator for MAGIS 2013 in Brazil.

Father Jayme C. Stayer, 44, is from Canton, Ohio. A lifelong musician and vocalist, Fr. Stayer has performed with the choruses of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Boston Pops and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Following ordination, Father Stayer has been missioned to the English department of John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio.

Father Robert W. Stephan, 40, is a native of Cincinnati. Father Stephan earned a masters degree in history from UCLA and a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, prior to entering the Society of Jesus. Part of his formation experience included teaching positions at Loyola Marymount University and Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles.

Father Bret J. Stockdale, 37, was born and raised in Worcester, Mass. Prior to entering the Society of Jesus, Father Stockdale worked in the mutual fund industry before accepting a position with the Diocese of Worcester and later serving as a youth minister at St. Luke the Evangelist in Westborough, Mass.

Father Stephen L. Surovick, 39, grew up in Voorhees, N.J. Prior to becoming a Jesuit, Father Surovick had a long public service career, holding a variety of positions with nonprofit organizations and in New Jersey state government. Following ordination, he will return to the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry to complete a Licentiate in Sacred Theology.

Father Jeremy K. Zipple, 35, is a native of Hattiesburg, Miss. Before entering the Society of Jesus, Father Zipple taught middle school math and music. Part of his formation experience included a three-year assignment as a writer, producer and director for National Geographic Television, where he explored a wide range of topics from a lost Mayan civilization to the quest for King Solomons mines.

Tibet Travel Destinations are well explained; Tibet Travel Agency TCTSs New Release Helps Tibet Tourists understand where to go and what to visit in Tibet

Tibet is a vast land that gives travelers opportunities for learning and adventure. To help travelers plan their tour, Tibet Ctrip Travel Service-TCTS (http://www.tibetctrip.com) announced a new release discussing five distinct travel regions in Tibet.

(PRWEB) June 07, 2013

Travel in Tibet opens the door for adventure and cultural discovery for travelers around the world. With so many travel destinations to choose from, travelers can customize a tour that meets their specific needs and interests. Tibet is, without a doubt, a large country; to help travelers better understand its geography Tibet Ctrip Travel Service-TCTS (http://www.tibetctrip.com) discusses five distinct Tibet travel destinations. To become familiar with Tibets varied natural and cultural landscapes, travelers will be able to plan a tour that focuses on the areas that interests them the most.

Lhasa and Yarlung Valley:

This is a hot spot for those planning a culture-focused tour of Tibet that still includes opportunities to enjoy unforgettable natural scenery. In Lhasa, travelers can learn about Tibetan culture as their native Tibetan guide accompanies them to places like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Sera Monastery. Yarlung Valley, cradle of Tibetan civilization, is home to Tibets first capital, Tsetang. Here travelers can take a step back in time as they tour ancient sites such as Yungbulakang Palace, the first palace in Tibet.

Central Tibet:

This is the region that includes Gyantse, Shigatse, Lake Yamdrok, and the surrounding area. This is another Tibet travel option for travelers interested in learning about Tibetan culture and Tibetan Buddhism! The small town of Gyantse is home to Kumbum Pagoda, filled with fantastic works of art, and Pelkhor monastery. In Shigatse, many travelers choose to visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama. Tashilhunpo Monastery, featuring a towering statue of the Maitreya Buddha, is a pilgrimage site for people from all over Tibet! With so much to learn from this region, TCTSs native Tibetan guides are more than happy to answer questions.

Nyingchi-East Tibet:

This off the tourist radar region is home to fantastic landscapes. While the snow capped mountain and alpine lakes are beautiful in themselves, the regions biggest draw is the Zangbo Canyon. Zangbo Canyon is the worlds deepest, rivaling the United States Grand Canyon in beauty and magnitude.

Kailash-Lake Manasarovar Region:

In this region, travelers can take in stunning mountain landscapes as they join Hindus, Buddhist, and Bon in making the ritualistic trek around the base of Mt. Kailash. Travelers make this trek to cleanse their souls of anger, fear, and misperceptions of reality; Tibet tours in this region give travelers a special opportunity to grow personally as they learn about a variety of cultures.

Everest Region:

This remote region near the border with Nepal was once reserved for the most intrepid travelers! A drastically improved tourist infrastructure has made standing at the base of this world-famous mountain accessible to almost any traveler who can handle the altitude. Trekkers can even make the four-day trek from Old Tingri all the way to Everest Base Camp.

Tibet is a vast country and varied landscapes and opportunities for adventure. When planning a Tibet tour, travelers are best off taking time to learn about all of what Tibet has to offer then focusing on the regions that interest them the most. TCTS is more than happy to offer suggestions and answer questions about its tours. Now that the 2013 Tibet travel season is in full swing, travelers are encouraged to start planning their trip now.

Paladin Data Systems, a leading developer and provider of software development, integration, implementation, database administration, and project management services, today released the latest version of its Panoramic project tracking software. The release includes a number of significant enhancements and is one of three releases this year which are seamlessly available to all users as Software as a Service (SaaS).

The primary enhancement in the v2013.02 release expands the softwares functionality, allowing users to share project information between separate sites. This release offers a solid alternative to the traditional way of connecting projects from external data sources. Why does the government reward people on benefits for having kids?

  1. They have given rise to a new kind of dirtbaggery I call baby farming. Men who have never worked a day in their lives get together with several likeminded scumbag ladies, and he gets them all pregnant, and 9 months later after theyve pooped out that harvest of babies he comes back to plant the next batch. 20 years and 200 babies later they are all being given 100000+ a year by the government, paying a nanny and living in luxury villas.

    Answer by Concerned Liberal
Rewarding bad bahavior and punishing good behavior is what liberalism is all about.

  2. McCanns just signed rental agreement on gated luxury villa in Praia da Luz. The property is worth millions. Are they too famous for their middle class apartment.

Poor Maddie. She didnt deserve such bad parents.

    Answer by R-T
and where did you hear this?

  3. I just brought into a new seaside resort complex that offers vacationers luxury villas. Its available for rent daily, weekly, or longer. Im now working on some marketing strategies, which will help make my customers more comfortable and willing to visit. I need your help.

What pricing strategy do you recomment for the resort complex that would maximize the occupancy?

What recommendations for pricing tactics or how to implement the strategy fo you have?

    Answer by ralph
Depends on your goals. A luxury product is priced more on what the market will bear. What are similar products selling for and what features do they have? If you discount your product you are at risk of losing the high end shoppers because if it is cheap it must not be good.

That being said, cost plus and yield mgnt are similar. You need to know your costs in order to know what effect renting a room will have on the bottom line. You have fixed and variable costs. The airlines sell some seats at high prices and some just above the cost of fuel. Empty seats do no good but selling the seats at less than the cost of fuel does not work either. Find out how much it costs to clean the room and process the customer and that should be your lowest price unless you are trying to penetrate the market.

The problem with using a penetration price to sell luxury goods is you will not be able to raise the price later. The customers you attract will be looking for deals and they will not visit when you raise the price.
